Founded in India in 1990, the Institute of Directors (IOD) is a national association of Corporate Directors, registered under the Societies Registration Act, XXI of 1860. IOD has played a pivotal role in developing business leaders capable of addressing the complexities of the modern economic landscape. Objectives
The primary objectives of IOD include:

Role
As the apex association of Corporate Directors in India, IOD’s primary role encompasses two key aspects:
- Representational: Advocate for issues concerning directors, including independent directors, across government, public, and private sectors in relevant forums.
- Developmental: Provide professional training and continuous development for senior executives and directors, with an emphasis on corporate governance and boardroom practices. Additionally, enhance governance standards and compliance through corporate competitions.
